EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING PROGRAM

This program is designed to assist and encourage young adults (18 to 24 years of age) to pursue, complete and/or achieve higher education, training, and skills that enable them to find gainful employment.  The program offers workshops and lectures in basic life skills development, i.e., information on career development, employment readiness, and time management.  Participants are required to go through an assessment process that identifies strengths and weaknesses.  After the assessment participants are provided with a plan of action that recommends referrals to other programs, social service agencies, educational institutions, etc., depending on the needs of the participant, i.e., GED preparation programs, tutoring, employment training, or training in skilled trades (carpentry, bricklaying, and welding).

The program is a six month program that meets twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  This six month program runs twice a year.  All classes, workshops. etc., will be conducted by skilled/trained and/or certified professionals in their respective fields.  The program is monitored by the Board of Directors of the organization.  Approximately 20% of the organization’s time is spent on this program.
