THE FUTURE LEADERS PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM
The Future Leaders Performing Arts Program is a program that will concentrate on the performing arts. The main goal of this program is to enhance the artistic and cultural skills of participants. Activities will include producing and offering theatrical performances, poetry readings, storytelling, dramatic readings, and role playing. The program will also provide participants with an opportunity to be involved in playwriting. The organization will also produce projects that include performances and compositions. This program should assist participants in gaining a strong sense of self-worth and self-esteem. In addition, participants will be motivated to develop their talents. There will be underlying messages that help to educate and inform participants about societal issues and concerns.
A major objective of the program is to educate and reach the community through performing arts about the critical issues that affect society. The program is dedicated to offering a unique opportunity for the community to be informed about the principles of performing arts. The organization feels that theatrical performances and music is an effective medium for communicating positive messages and provides an opportunity to promote issues of race, culture, and diverse lifestyles.
Program participants meet once a week for 2-3 hours. Program activities will emphasize individual development and an objective approach to the art of performance. Activities will include workshops, seminars and lectures that assure that each participant receives maximum attention, which should increase the possibility of greater participation. Three theatrical, stage and/or musical performances will be coordinated and produced by participants in the program.
Activities produced and offered through the program will be designed to be flexible so that performances can be provided in various types of facilities. This program will be publicized through the media, advertisement, churches, schools and the general public. The Board of Directors of the organization will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating this project. 10% of the organization’s time is spent on this project.
